The Gardens of Samares Manor

As the gardens of Samarès Manor have been developed and expanded over the last twenty years, so has the massive collection of plants for sale in the nursery. Strong emphasis is placed on stocking new, special and often uncommon varieties to complement more familiar old favourites.  We can therefore offer many possibilities for colour, foliage effects and fragrance,  giving your garden a special individuality.

The Gift Shop
Stylish gift ideas, many with a herbal, gardening or environmental theme, include stationery, toiletries, seeds, jewellery, educational toys and kitchenware.

The Garden Project
These unique gardens were created in the nineteen twenties by millionaire shipping magnate and philanthropist, Sir James Knott, and in recent years they have undergone substantial restoration, diversification and development.
The gardens have always offered exceptional environmental conditions for growing a extensive range of plants, but now the onset of climate change brings with it further opportunities.

The Herb Garden
- The most spectacular in the UK
These unique gardens were created in the nineteen twenties by millionaire shipping magnate and philanthropist, Sir James Knott, and in recent years they have undergone substantial restoration, diversification and development.

Herb Garden Café
The café, run by Andrew Hougardy, is uniquely situated in the herb garden surrounded by roses, lavenders and other fragrant plants.
Andrew serves stylish  homemade food throughout the day, including a variety of snacks, salads, delicious deserts, biscuits and cakes. His popular “Daily Delights” menu offers many locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, complemented by freshly cut herbs. It doesnt have to be tea time to enjoy a Jersey cream tea; homemade scones and fresh Jersey cream are a definite must and you can choose from a selection of specialist teas and coffees.
Andrew also makes chutneys and relishes, using, wherever possible, fresh produce from the gardens. These are for sale in gift shop at the front gate.
Catering for small daytime and evening functions for up to fifty is available with the option of using either the terrace or the cafés marquee.
